Learn how to export Controls and Articles

Updated over a year ago

Exports are a useful tool to capture the regulation and policy data stored in PolicyCo in a downloadable CSV file. A CSV (comma-separated values) file is a text file in which information is separated by commas. CSV files can be imported into spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

Exports include all regulation information (the Regulation name, Regulation ID, and the Regulation description) and the policy articles they are mapped to with all corresponding policy information (Policy name, version number, sequence number, article title, policy content, and policy managers and authors).

Your organization may use different labels for Controls and Articles (ex: labeling them as regulations or requirements) but for these purposes we will use the default labeling of Control and Article. More information on how to change the labels is found here.

Exports are found under the Home section of the left menu.

How to Filter an Export by Control

Exports can be filtered by regulation to show one, multiple, or all Controls your organization adheres to, and all controls and the policies to which they are mapped.

  • Navigate to the Regulation column of the export table

  • Click the Hamburger menu next to Regulation

  • Select the Regulations you'd like to filter by

    • Note: You can filter by (Blanks), which will create an export that will only include policies that are not mapped to Regulations, or you can select all Regulations and only deselect Blanks which will remove all policies that are not mapped to regulations.

How to Filter an Export by Regulation Topic/Keyword

An export can be filtered to only reflect regulations and its applicable policies by a keyword - for example, if you desire an export for a specific set of topical regulations and their policies, you can filter by the topic/keyword.

  • Navigate to the Description column of the Controls section of the export table

  • Click the Hamburger menu and type in the desired topic/keyword

Note: you can filter to a more granular level by using the And/Or options and add another topic/keyword.
